An important piece of my story is that my experience dealing with postpartum depression and anxiety led me to study photography. Photography allowed me to document the often overlooked tender moments and loving affection that we all feel toward our kids, but that get so easily lost in the day to day of parenting.

Along my journey, I even became a birth and postpartum doula to compliment my birth photography, incorporating more ways to support and document the immense joy and chaos that is synonymous with the motherhood journey. Although I am no longer working in the birth or postpartum space in that way, my experiences supporting women through this vulnerable time in life proved to me that to truly thrive in motherhood, you need connection, support and compassion.

As for my photography style, I approach each session with the goal of bringing out your natural connection and love for each other. By creating a relaxed environment you can be at ease during your session and use your energy to have quality and loving interactions with your kiddos, all while having a lot of fun together!

I am so excited you're here. If there’s one thing to know about me, it's that motherhood has been a life-changing journey for me and shaped me into the person I am today. Ever since that first pregnancy test, through a late miscarriage, three babies born within 3.5 years of each other and some major lifestyle changes, I have learned to embrace the struggles and stand up strong again and again. I wouldn’t be able to do the things I do today, see the world the way I do and relate to fellow moms the way I do, if it wasn’t for my own personal motherhood journey.

Hey! I'm Rivkah Leah

I know how hectic and chaotic #momlife is, trust me! With three kids, ages 13, 11 and 10, it can feel like the it’s just never going to stop and we are always running from one thing to the next…

That’s why it’s especially important to take the time as a family to pause and reconnect. I believe that every family photo session is an opportunity to spend quality time and create meaningful memories together. Sessions are fun for the kids and relaxed for the parents, so you can focus on the love and affection you feel toward each other, while creating positive and memorable family memories that reflect YOUR unique and authentic personalities. Every #RLfamily receives a gallery of images that will always remind you of how cherished you are to each other and empower you to feel confident and capable as a parent, giving witness to the beauty in your own lives.

I am so excited to hear from you and can’t wait to learn about your beautiful family. Reach out below and let’s start planning your maternity, newborn, or family photo session!!

A snapshot into my life

I wouldn't be who I am without my family.  My husband, Levi is my biggest support and steady companion.  I feel so lucky to have him and that we are on this lifelong journey together.  My kids are a gift and the people who have pushed me to be the person I am today.  As a family, we love reading, snacking and when weather permits going outdoors for a swim, a hike or a skating/scootering/biking expedition.  Since my kids are now 10, 11 and 13, I am getting to know them as their own people and they are learning who they want to be and how they want to get there and it is both the most exhilarating and terrifying thing to experience as a mother!! ;)

I would not be recognizable without at least one or two books in arms length.  I love reading self help books but have also ventured in historical fiction more and more as an adult since starting the Outlander series during the pandemic.  Reading gives me a way to escape and dream and be in other people's shoes, which is sometimes just what the doctor orders when you have a house of pre-teens!  As for self-help, some of my favorite parenting books include "Let Them Be Kids", "The Blessing of a Skinned Knee", and "The Miracle Morning for Families."

I am that mom that uses the app to check bar codes on food and beauty products when I'm shopping at Walmart.  It's a unique blend of not wanting to have crap in my house, but wanting to have convenience!   I've baked my own sourdough, tried my hand at homeschooling and even had all my babies at home with a midwife.  I also go to Starbucks, have a regular cleaner and will eat sugary baked goods whenever I have the chance.  So, that's my funny blend of crunchy and not so crunchy and I'm here for all of it.  Motherhood is just too demanding and important to feel bad about not buying organic and needing to pop the kids on their screens when the going gets tough (but don't worry, they have a time limit! lolol).

I am one of those 'tea people.'  I love having a variety of tea bag flavors in a favorite vintage glass container on my counter as opposed to the typical cup of coffee.  Don't get me wrong, coffee is great, but for me, tea will always be my go-to.  My favorite is either a good chai blend or english breakfast, both made with steaming hot water from my stove top kettle, a good portion of honey and topped off with either heavy cream or whipped cream on top! Yum!!!

As someone who experienced both postpartum anxiety and depression, I really benefited in the beginning of my parenting journey from weekly therapy.  As time went on and I started to gain more tools and dig deeper into who I want to be, therapy and eventually working with a life coach, has become an integral part of my self care regiment. I love talking about mental health with others. I love sharing my experience with anxiety, depression, self care, medication and natural remedies.  I love getting to learn new tools through my therapy and coaching and then talking with other moms and women about what is working or not working for them and finding ways to share our real and true struggles, wins and needs with each other.

One of things I love about Phoenix, is that even though it's a large city, everywhere you look there is nature and beautiful landmarks.  Within only 45 minutes to an hour of where I live is the beautiful Salt River with rushing water, greenery, trails, mountains and wild horses!  In the last year, one of my favorite parts of living in Arizona has been being able to drive only 2 hours and get to the beautiful forests of Flagstaff.  I love being in nature, hearing the birds and bugs, feeling the wind on my face and smelling the dirt and pungent trees all around me.

Rivkah Leah was great for our family photo shoot. She handles the chaos of young kids during photos very well and is very patient. She helps take the stress off of the mom (let’s face it, moms do most of the work putting these things together) by helping coordinate outfits and including items from her client closet.

She also makes a point to help mom remain relaxed during the shoot. Will definitely book her again!

Riv was such an asset to my birth team. She was so helpful during my labor and captured all of the powerful moments.
My favorite photos she captured though, were the newborn and lifestyle photos about 2 weeks after my daughter was born. I treasure all of the precious closeups of my little newborn.

The details of the moments I will never get back in real life, but now have the photos to relish in that fleeting time forever. So grateful to RL and her sweetness. 100% recommend to anyone looking for a newborn photographer!

We had an amazing newborn session with Rivkah! We have three older girls and our newborn so I was expecting for the worst, but Rivkah did such an amazing job keeping the atmosphere very fun and relaxed! When she left I kept telling my husband what a great experience that was! AND our photos were everything! So grateful for Rivkah and these photos!

Rivkah Leah is a super talented photographer. I get very nervous before and during family photo shoots, but her calm demeanor really helped me stay relaxed. From helping our family choose coordinating outfits to holding my 18m old while snapping away to really capturing the personalities of each family member, Rivkah Leah is the full package!
